Our Mission

WHAT'S OUR GOAL

St Mary’s Out of Hours School care has dedicated staff who provide a warm and inclusive atmosphere for all the children and families attending the service. We actively encourage involvement, participation and feedback in our programming from staff, management, children and families, based on children’s interests and needs, the program reflects the needs of the middle child by fostering and allocating time for planned experiences and free play . We embrace the benefits cultural diversity brings to our school community.

Staff develop relationships with children and guide children’s behavior in a positive manner, consulting with families to develop appropriate care giving strategies. We aim to provide a fun, safe and developmentally appropriate environment for children, which gives families a sense of security that their children are stimulated, happy and well cared for.

Facilities

SMOOSH is operated out of KOSMAC house, at 56 Swanson Street, which is conveniently located immediately adjacent to St Mary’s Primary School and within a 5 minute walk from Erskineville Railway station. Access to Kosmac house for children is directly from the school playground. At the end of the school day, children need not leave the school grounds to attend SMOOSH. Kindergarten children are collected from outside their classrooom and escorted to the children’s entrance to KOSMAC house.

Services & Fees

Demand for places in our After School Care service is very high and there is a waiting list that is (unfortunately) rarely empty. Priority is given to children at St. Mary’s Primary School, Erskineville (and those who will soon commence tuition at St.Mary’s) but children from other primary schools are always welcome. We are pleased that we are usually able to satisfy community demand for places during school vacation / holiday periods.

Daily Program variety including Arts and Crafts, Sports, Theme Days

Activities could include Theatre, Sports, Cinema etc

SMOOSH is fully accredited by the NCAC (National Childcare Accreditation Council) and all Service Fees qualify for the Child Care Benefit and the Child Care Rebate.
